Noisy Neighbors

I live in a village where my next door neighbors have a videoke machine. During special occasions, my neighbors would stay up till the wee hours singing their hearts out while drinking themselves into intoxication.

Never mind the drinking. Filipino parties are anything short of fun without the booze and the so-called, pulutan. But to noisily sing in the middle of the night, keeping neighbors up--neighbors who would only like to rest after a hard day of labor--that shows lack of concern.

As a singer, I have my own videoke machine. I also have a home theatre system attached to my flat-screen LED TV. There are times when I'd sing myself, but the sound would never leave the four walls of my house. It was confined to my house.

Why can't these neighbors simply sing inside their houses so as not to disturb those who'd like to sleep? Why is there a need for them to pump up the volume and let everyone else hear their distracting screams and moans in the guise of singing? Are these neighbors happy that they wake others who are trying to rest?

We seriously need a noise pollution law enacted to protect our own rights to a peaceful and restful sleep.

The Filipino's Lack of Concern

Everyday I notice actions that demonstrate the Filipino's lack of concern for others.

In this new blog, I will be documenting examples of how we Filipinos manifest this lack of concern, hoping to find a cure for this.
